THE portrait on the cover is of Coxswain Alexander Nelson of Donaghadee. He has been a member of the Donaghadee life-boat crew since 1912. He was appointed bowman in 1929, second coxswain in 1949, and coxswain in 1954. During the period of a little over four years in which he has been coxswain the Donaghadee lifeboat has been launched 16 times on service and has rescued 18 lives..
