Dover, Kent. At 11.40 on the morning of the 29th of November, 1958, the coastguard at Sandgate reported that two boys were cut off by the tide near St. Margarets. At 11.50 the life-boat Southern Africa put out in a moderate sea, towing a small boat.

There was a moderate south-easterly wind and a flood tide. The life-boat searched close inshore and found the two boys on the east side of the South Foreland lighthouse. Members of the crew manned the boat which had been towed, and the two boys were picked up and transferred to thelife-boat, which then returned to har- bour, arriving at one o'clock.
