Galway Bay. At 6.15 on the evening of the 30th of September, 1958, the local doctor asked the honorary secre- tary for the use of the life-boat to convey him to Inishere to attend a patient believed to have appendicitis. At 6.30 the life-boat Mabel Marion Thompson was launched in a heavy swell. There was a strong south-westerly wind and it was high water. The life-boat brought the doctor to Inishere. He found the appendicitis was acute, and the patient was embarked and taken to Rossaveal. The life-boat then returned to her station, arriving at 1.15.
