Dunmore East, Co. Waterford. At 11.15 on the night of the 7th of August, 1958, a message was received that a motor launch had broken down with engine trouble one mile west of Hook lighthouse. The life-boat Annie Blanche Smith put out at 11.30 in a calm sea. A moderate north-westerly wind was blowing, and it was high water. The life-boat found the motor launch Monica of Waterford with three men on board. They had been fishing and had burnt some of their clothing to attract attention.
