Dawn (1)

Exmouth, Devon. At 9.48 on the morning of the 29th of September, 1958, the coastguard told the honorary secretary that a yacht was burning flares one mile south of Otterton Head.

The life-boat Maria Noble was launched at 10.1 in a very rough sea. There was a south-south-westerly wind of gale force, with rain squalls, and the tide was ebbing. The life-boat found the yawl Dawn of Dartmouth, with a crew of three, being driven on to the rocks.

She took her in tow to Brixham, which was reached at 2.10, and then returned to her station, arriving at 6.35. Property salvage case..
