Galway Bay. At noon on the 28th of April, 1958, the honorary secretary received a message from the local doctor asking if the life-boat would bring a doctor from Rossaveal to Kilronan for consultation about a patient. At 12.15 the life-boat Mabel Marion Thompson put out in a calm sea, with a light south-westerly wind blowing and fog. It was high water.

The life-boat brought the doctor to Kilronan and later took the patient to the mainland. She finally reached her station at 11.30. Rewards to the crew, £19. 5s. ; reward to the helper on shore, £1. 3s..
