While the life-boat Grace Darling was escorting the royal barge during the visit of H.M. the Queen and H.R.H.

the Duke of Edinburgh to Holy Island on the 29th of June, 1958, the coxswain saw a small motor boat in difficulties a mile and a half east of Holy Island. The life-boat made for the position and found the motor boat Lady Francis of Holy Island with her engine broken down.

The Lady Francis had fourteen passen- gers and crew on board. The life-boat took her in tow to Holy Island harbour and then continued escorting the royal barge. Rewards to the crew, £10. 13s. ; rewards to the helpers on shore, £8. 17s..
