Bridlington, Yorkshire. At eleven o'clock on the morning of the 25th of January, 1958, the honorary secretary was informed that the local motor fishing vessel Margaret had left the harbour at four o'clock to attend her lines and was expected to return shortly.

The weather was deteriorating rapidly and the life-boat Tillie Morrison, Sheffield II was launched at 12.15.There was a rough sea, a fresh southerly gale was blowing and the tide was ebbing. The life-boat stood by for four hours as the Margaret was unable to enter the harbour because of the low water. The life-boat finally reached her station at 4.50.
