Fishing Cobles (1)

Filey, Yorkshire. At 2.55 on the afternoon of the 4th of February, 1958, the coastguard told the honorary secretary that there were six local fishing cobles at sea, and as weather conditions were bad it had become very dangerous for boats returning to har- bour. At three o'clock the life-boat The ha and Penryn Milsted was launch- ed in a moderate sea. There was a fresh west-south-westerly gale and a flooding tide. The life-boat escorted the six cobles safely ashore and was rehoused by seven o'clock. Rewards to the crew, £10 ; rewards to the help- ers on shore, £12 12s..
