Walton and Frinton, Essex. At eleven o'clock on the morning of the 22nd of October, 1957, the coastguard telephon- ed that the master of the Sunk light- vessel had reported that the yacht West Wind had made fast to the stern of the lightvessel, that she was leaking badly, and that her sails were in bad condition.

There was a strong north-westerly breeze and the tide was ebbing. The life-boat took the yacht's owner on board and towed the yacht to Walton, which was reached at 5.30.
