The S.S. Columbine

Peterhead, Aberdeenshire.—At 7.40 on the evening of the 24th of Decem- ber, 1957, the coastguard told the honorary secretary that a vessel was ashore on the North Head. Ten minutes later the life-boat Julia Park Barry, of Glasgow, was launched in a moderate swell. There was a light west-south-westerly wind and it was low water. The life-boat found the S.S. Columbine, of Lerwick, with a crew of ten, went alongside and took her crew off. She then returned to herstation, arriving at 8.35. The Colum- bine became a total loss.
