The Arklow Lightvessel

Arklow, Co. Wicklow. At 8.45 on the morning of the 6th of October, 1957, a message was received from the Irish Lights Office that a member of the crew of the Arklow lightvessel had been taken ill. At 9.10 the life-boat Inbhear Mor was launched in a moderate sea. There was a light south-westerly breeze and the tide was flooding. The life-boat reached the lightvessel, em- barked the sick man and returned to her station, arriving at 12.13.—Re- wards to the crew £12 5s. ; rewards to the helpers on shore, £2 14s.
