Dover, Kent. At 6.52 on the evening of the 3rd of October, 1957, a message was received that a small motor boat was burning distress flares west of Dover. Eight minutes later the life- boat Southern Africa put out in a moderate sea. There was a moderate northerly breeze blowing and the tide was flooding. The life-boat found the motor boat Beach Belle, with four anglers on board, drifting three miles west of Dover.
