The S.S. Alexandria
Penlee, Cornwall.—At six o'clock on the evening of the 17th of September, 1957, the port doctor asked if the life- boat could take an injured man off the S.S. Alexandria, which was expected to be two miles south of Wolf light- house about six o'clock on the morning of the 18th of September. The life- boat W. and S. was launched at three o'clock in a smooth sea. The weather was fine and the tide was ebbing. The life-boat proceeded to Newlyn, took a doctor and ambulance men on board and made for the rendezvous. The injured man was transferred to the life-boat and landed at Newlyn, and the life-boat then returned to her station, arriving at 8.15.—Rewards to the crew, £12 12*.; rewards to the helpers on shore, £5 9*..
