Pathfinder
Portpatrick, Wigtownshire.—At 2.17 on the morning of the 16th of July, 1957, the coastguard reported that a red flare had been seen six miles south- south-west of Portpatrick. At 2.30 the life-boat Edward Z. Dresden, on temporary duty at the station, put out in a slight sea with light airs blowing.
It was high water. The life-boat found the motor launch Pathfinder, of Don- aghadee, drifting with her engine broken down. There were two women and two men on board. The life-boat took the launch in tow and brought her to Portpatrick, arriving at four o'clock.—Rewards to the crew, £7..
