Kanedo

Beaumaris, Anglesey.—At 10.10 on the night of the 5th of August, 1957, cries for help could be heard from the motor cruiser Kanedo, which was moored close to the pier. A strong south-easterly gale was blowing and the sea was very rough. At 10.30 the life-boat Field Marshal and Mrs.

Smuts was launched in an ebbing tide and found that the Kanedo had only a sixteen-year-old boy on board and that she was dragging her anchor.

The life-boat rescued the boy and returned to her station, arriving at 11.15. The Kanedo eventually beached.—Rewards to the crew, £12 7s.; rewards to the helpers on shore, £2 11s..
