Cloughey, Co. Down.—At 3.55 on the afternoon of the 14th of August, 1957, the coxswain of the life-boat reported that a small yacht was burning flares off North Rock. At 4.15 the life-boat Constance Calverley was launched.

There was a rough sea, a fresh north- westerly wind was blowing, and the tide was ebbing. The life-boat found the yacht Hazel, of Portavogie, with a crew of one. She had anchored but was bumping on the rocks, and the anchor was in danger of dragging.

The life-boat crew passed a line aboard, towed the yacht clear and brought her to her station, arriving at 5.30.—Rewards to the crew £6; rewards to the helpers on shore, £9 10s..
