Green Drake

Eastbourne, Sussex.—At 3.10 on the afternoon of the 9th of September, 1957, the coxswain of the life-boat saw a dismasted yacht capsize about half a mile off shore. The life-boat Beryl Tollemache was launched at 3.15 in a rough sea. There was a strong south- westerly breeze and the tide was ebb- ing. The life-boat picked up one man from the sea and then took the other two members of the crew off the yacht, which was the Green Drake. She towed the yacht back to Eastbourne, arriving at four o'clock,—Rewards to the crew, £8; rewards to the helpers on shore, £13 7s..
