Clovelly, Devon.—At ten o'clock on the morning of the 1st of September, 1957, the coxswain reported that the yacht Eidolon, anchored in Clovelly Roads, was firing distress signals. He put out in his punt and was asked by the owner of the yacht if the women and children could be put ashore. As the sea was rough the life-boat William Cantrell Ashley was launched at 10.15.

She landed four people and arrived back at her station at 11.30.—Rewards to the crew, £6; rewards to the helpers on shore, £10 16s..
