Lowestoft, Suffolk.—At 2.54 on the afternoon of the 14th of September.
1957, the coastguard reported that a fishing boat was flying a distress signal about a mile and a half south-east of Southwold harbour. The life-boat Michael Stephens was launched at three o'clock in a slight sea. There was a moderate north-westerly breeze, and the tide was ebbing. The life-boat came up with the long-shore boat Boy George with a crew of one off Southwold.
