Salcombe, Devon.—At 11.2 on the night of the 14th of June, 1957, the Hope Cove coastguard telephoned that red flares had been seen four miles west-north-west of Prawle Point. The life-boat Samuel and Marie Parkhouse put out at 11.15 in a smooth sea.

There was a gentle north-easterly breeze blowing and the tide was ebbing. The life-boat found the local yacht Thelamagee with a crew of three.
