The Arklow Lightvessel

Arklow, Co. Wicklow.—At 5.40 on the afternoon of the 25th of June, 1957, the Irish Lights Office asked if the lifeboat could launch to land the master of the Arklow lightvessel, whose wife was dangerously ill. The life-boat Inbhear Mor was launched at 5.50 in a smooth sea. There was a gentle southerly breeze blowing and the tide was flooding. The life-boat arrived at the lightvessel at 7.30 and embarked her master. She landed him at Ark- low at 9.10 and reached her station at 9.30.—Rewards to the crew, £9 16*.; rewards to the helpers on shore, £3 18*.
