Roma

Fleetwood, Lanes.—About 8.10 on the evening of the 28th of April, 1957, the life-boat coxswain was told by the Formby coastguard that a small fishing boat had broken down with engine trouble and was in a dangerous posi- tion off Rossall Point. At 8.40 the life-boat Ann Letitia Russell was launched. There was a slight sea, a fresh north-westerly breeze was blow- ing, and the tide was flooding. The life-boat came up with the fishing boat Roma, of Fleetwood, with a crew of four, and took her in tow, arriving back at her station at ten o'clock.

One of the Roma's crew had managed to reach shore before the life-boat arrived.—Rewards to the crew, £8 8*.; rewards to the helpers on shore, £2 16*..
