Clacton-on-Sea, Essex.—At 12.12 early on the morning of the 30th of June, 1957, the coastguard telephoned that two bathers were marooned on a sand- bank at Point Clear. The life-boat H.C.J., on temporary duty at the station, was launched at 12.35 in calm weather. The tide was flooding. With the help of a police car's headlights the life-boat found the two bathers and took them on board.
