THE Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Mr. Harold Watkinson, has awarded the Ministry's shield for the best rescue service of the year to the Collieston (Aberdeen) Coast Life-saving Company for the rescue by breeches buoy of the crew of ten from the motor vessel Stephens, of Fraserburgh, after she had gone aground in the early hours of the 8th of November, 1956. The Stephens was rolling heavily but contact was made with her by the first rocket fired. A hawser was manned from the top of sand dunes some forty feet high..
