Broughty Ferry, Angus.—At 7.10 on the evening of the 8th of April, 1957, the honorary secretary received a telephone message from the Air Sea Rescue Unit at Tayport saying the poliee had asked the unit to send a motor launch to a position above the Tay Bridge to help a motor boat •which had "broken down. The Royal Air Force officer felt that this was a matter for the life-boat station, and a"ft"er making enquiries, the honorary secretary Jearnt'that the engine of the motor Vessel Atlantis had failed and she was in1 a dangerous position on a sandbank.1 ;Her owner had 'come a- shore in a'pram dinghy, but there were seven other people on board the Atlan- tis who were unable to come ashore.

At. 7.30 the life-boat Mono 'wak launched in' calm weather. The>tide' •was flooding. The life-boat came up w-ftri the -Atl'antis two miles above theTay Bridge and towed her to Dundee harbour.
