Arklow, Co. Wicklowl—At 7.25 on the evening of the 7th of January, 1957, flares were seen south of the pier, and as the local motor fishing vessel Sparkling Wave was overdue, the life- boat Inbhear Mor was launched at 7.45. There was a rough sea, a strong south-south-westerly breeze was blowing, and it was low water. The life- boat found the Sparkling Wave two miles south of Arklow pier with her engine broken down.
