Sparkling Wave

Arklow, Co. Wicklowl—At 7.25 on the evening of the 7th of January, 1957, flares were seen south of the pier, and as the local motor fishing vessel Sparkling Wave was overdue, the life- boat Inbhear Mor was launched at 7.45. There was a rough sea, a strong south-south-westerly breeze was blowing, and it was low water. The life- boat found the Sparkling Wave two miles south of Arklow pier with her engine broken down. She had a crew of six. The life-boat towed her to the harbour, arriving back at 8.45.— Rewards to the crew, £8 15s.; rewards to the helpers on shore, £3 12*..
