The S.S. Loch Ranza

Flamborough, Yorkshire.—At 8.5 on the evening of the 20th of August,1956, the coastguard rang up to say a message had been received from the S.S. Loch Ranza, of Glasgow, asking that an injured man be taken ashore.

At 10.20 the life-boat Friendly Forester was launched. There was a moderate sea and a fresh southerly breeze. The tide was ebbing. The life-boat found the Loch Ranza six miles east of Flam- borough Head. The injured man was transferred to the life-boat, and she returned to her station, arriving back at 12.5.—Rewards to the crew, £6; rewards to the helpers on shore, £17 18s..
