On the 29th of July, 1956, life-boats from Dover and Dungeness, Kent, and Selsey, Sussex, put out to the help of a number of vessels in distress. A full account of these services for which, among other distinctions conferred, the silver medal for gallantry was awarded to Coxswain Douglas Grant of Selsey, a second service clasp to his bronze medal was awarded to Cox- swain John Walker, of Dover, and the bronze medal was awarded to Cox- swain George Tart of Dungeness, appears on page 322..
