A Sailing Boat and a Rowing Boat

Criccieth, Caernarvonshire.—At 2.55 on the afternoon of the 14th of August, 1956, the second coxswain reported that he had seen a sailing boat capsize about a mile and a half from Castle Point. The life-boat Richard Silver Oliver was launched at three o'clock.

There was a choppy sea, with a moderate north-westerly breeze blow- ing and a flood tide. The life-boat found that the yacht's crew of two had been picked up by a rowing boat, but the men in the rowing boat were in an exhausted condition. They and the two men they had rescued were taken aboard the life-boat, which arrived back at her station at 3.45.— Rewards to the crew, £7; rewards to the helpers on shore, £7 ISs..
