On the afternoon of the 8th of January, 1956, the Humber and Bridlington life-boats put out to the help of the motor vessel Stevonia, of Goole. Conditions at sea were such that the Committee of Management decided to address collective letters of appreciation to the coxswains and crews of both boats, in addition to granting extra monetary awards.
