Longest Winter Service

THE Sugar Manufacturers' Association (of Jamaica), Ltd., has once again awarded a case of rum to the life-boat crew which carried out the longest service during the winter months of 1955-56. The award has gone to the crew of the Arklow life-boat for a service lasting more than seventeen hours on the 22nd-23rd of Decem- ber, 1955. A full account of this service appeared in the March 1956 number of The Life-boat on page 220. The award for the winter of 1954-55 was also won by an Irish crew, that of the Rosslare Harbour life-boat..
