Betty, Hilda II, and Premier

Scarborough, Yorkshire. — On the morning of the 18th of January, 1956, the weather worsened while the local fishing boats Betty, Hilda II, and Premier were still at sea, with three men in each boat. At 10.40 the life- boat E.C.J.R. was launched. The sea was rough, there was a strong north-erly wind, and the tide was ebbing.

The life-boat came up with the boats, escorted them to the harbour, and reached her station again at 1.50.— Rewards to the crew, £10; rewards to the helpers on shore, £10 12s..
