Arbroath Memorial
A BRONZE plaque has been erected in the storm wall of the fish quay at Arbroath harbour to commemorate the disaster in which six members of the crew of the Arbroath life-boat Robert Lindsay lost their lives on the 27th of October, 1953.
The Lord Lieutenant of Angus, the Earl of Airlie, unveiled the memorial on the 7th of January, 1956. The Provost of Arbroath, Mr. J. K. Moir, who was chairman of the fund which was raised after the disaster, presided, and the memorial was dedicated by the Rev. Colin Day, Minister of St.
Minian's Church. Lieut. E. D. Stogdon, Northern District Inspector, represen- ted the Headquarters of the Institution..
