Naomh Cionnec
Valentia, Co. Kerry.—At 3.30 on the afternoon of the 6th of August, 1955, the Valentia radio station telephoned that a motor boat, which had taken a party of visitors to Skelligs Rock, had broken down on leaving the rock. At 3.45 the life-boat A.E.D. put out.
There was a moderate sea and a fresh northerly breeze, and the tide was flooding. The life-boat found the motor boat Naomh Cionnec, of Dublin, with eleven people on board, in danger of being carried on to the rock. She towed her to Portmagee, reaching her station again at 7.45.—Rewards to the crew, £11 4s.; rewards to the helper on shore, 16s..
