A Sailing Boat

Fowey, Cornwall.—At 3.10 on the afternoon of the 25th of Septem- ber, 1955, the Polruan coastguard telephoned that a sailing boat had cap- sized off Buley Beach between. Pol- kerris and Par. Four people were clinging to her bottom. At 3.25 the life-boat Deneys Reitz put out and made for the position in a calm sea with a light west-north-west breeze blowing. She found that the people had, by that time, swum ashore, so she towed the sailing boat to Pol- kerris and then returned to her station, arriving at 4.50.—Rewards to the crew, £7; reward to the helper on shore, 2s. 6d..
