Nicolette

Falmouth, Cornwall.—At 11.15 on the morning of the 6th of May, 1955, the St. Anthony coastguard rang up to call attention to the position of a sailing yacht in Falmouth Bay. He later stated that she might need help as the weather was bad. At 11.50 the life-boat Crawford and Constance Cony- beare put out. There was a very rough sea, a north-westerly gale was blowing, and it was low tide. The life- boat found the yacht Nicolette, of Southampton, with a crew of four.

Her main sail had jammed, her head- sail had carried away, and she was drifting towards the shore a hundred yards off Nare Head. The life-boat took her in tow with difficulty and towed her to Falmouth, arriving at 2.30.—Property Salvage Case..
