The Blackwater Lightvessel
Rosslare Harbour, Co. Wexford.—At 11.50 on the morning of the 20th of January, 1955, the Commissioners of Irish Lights reported that the father of the fog signalman on the Black- water lightvessel had died in Wexford and asked if the life-boat would land the man to attend his father's funeral.
No other boat was available and at 12.30 the life-boat Douglas Hyde put out. The sea was rough, and a fresh breeze was blowing from the south.
The life-boat landed the man and reached Jier station again at 4.50.— Partly Permanent Paid Crew: Re- wards, £9 19s..
