The S.S. Ocean Coast

Yarmouth, Isle of Wight.—At 3.40 on the afternoon of the 26th of November, 1954, shipping agents reported that the master of the S.S. Ocean Coast, of Liverpool, which was anchored in Yarmouth Roads, was seriously ill and needed a doctor. No other boat was available, and at 3.50 the life- boat put out with a doctor. The sea •was moderate, and a gale was blowing from the south-west. The life-boat put the doctor aboard. He examined the master, advised the steamer to take him to Southampton and then re-boarded the life-boat, which reached her station again at 5.15.—Rewards, £7..
