Workington, Cumberland. — On the 30th of December, 1954, the S.S. Baron Haig, of Ardrossan, which was lying at anchor off the entrance to the harbour, wirelessed that she had a sick man on board and needed a doctor. At three o'clock in the afternoon the life-boat Manchester and Salford XXIX put out with a doctor on board in a calm sea, with a moderate east-south-east breeze blowing.
