Jeanetta

Workington, Cumberland.—About 2.30 on the afternoon of the 15th of October, 1954, the coastguard reported that the fishing boat Jeanetta, of Annan, was overdue. Ten minutes later the life- boat Manchester and Salford XXIX put out. The sea was very rough, a gale was blowing from the south-west, and it was an hour and a half after high water. After a long search in poor visibility the life-boat found the Jeanetta, with a crew of two, anchored three and a half miles north-north- east of Maryport. She had lost her propeller and her sails had carried away. The life-boat rescued the men and took them to Workington, arriv- ing at 11.30.—Rewards, £21 14s. Qd.
