Feistein
Walmer, Kent.—At 11.56 on the night of the 18th of October, 1954, the Deal coastguard telephoned that a vessel had gone aground two and a half miles east of the coastguard sta- tion and had signalled SOS. At 12.10 early on the 19th the life-boat Charles Dibdin, Civil Service No. 2 was launched at low water. There was a heavy sea and a strong north-westerly breeze blowing. The life-boat foundthe motor vessel Feistein, of Stavanger, a fish-carrier bound for Boulogne, in the middle of the Goodwin Sands.
She had been aground twice during the night, but had refloated and had anchored in a dangerous position between two sandbanks. Two life- boatmen boarded her and piloted her clear of the sands. She then went on her way. The life-boat returned to her station, arriving at 6.40.—Pro- perty Salvage Case..
