The Sailing Boat Victory

Falmouth, Cornwall.—At 10.32 on the night of the 31st of August, 1954. a man rang up to say that his sailing boat Victory had put out that morning with a crew of two and nine visitors, but had not returned. At 10.50 the life-boat Hearts of Oak, on temporary duty at the station, put out. The sea was calm, a light easterly breeze was blowing and the tide was ebbing.

The life-boat found the Victory in Falmouth Bay. A dinghy was towing her with difficulty. The life-boat took the visitors on board, landed them at Falmouth and then towed in the Victory, arriving at her station at 12.15 early on the 1st of September.— Rewards, £4 18*..
