Tarka

Swanage, Dorset. — About seven o'clock on the morning of the 31st of July, 1954, the St. Albans Head coast- guard telephoned that the yacht Tarka was in distress three miles south-south- west of Anvil Point. At 7.14 the life-boat R.L.P. was launched. The sea was smooth, there was a light south-westerly breeze and it was one hour after low water. She found the yacht three miles south-west of Anvil Point, with two people on board. The yacht's fore-stay had carried away.

The life-boat towed her to Swanage Bay, reaching her station again at eight o'clock.—Rewards, £6 15s..
