Valentia, Co. Kerry.—On the 3rd of April, 1954, the Commissioners of Irish Lights asked if the life-boat would land a seriously injured man from the Skellig's Rocks lighthouse, as the Commissioners' tender Valonia had already made four unsuccessful attempts to do so in the bad weather.
At 10.20 the next morning the life- boat A.E.D. put out in a very rough sea. There were hail showers and a moderate north-westerly gale. With difficulty the life-boat took the injured man on board, landed him at Reenard Quay, and reached her station again at 3*5.—Rewards, £10 3,9..
