Ramsgate, Kent.—At 12.59 early on the moring of the 3rd of March, 1954, the coastguard rang up to say that the North Goodwin lightvessel had reported flares between the light- vessel and North Foreland. At 1.30 the life-boat Michael and Lily Davis put out. She began to search in a rough sea with a moderate south- westerly breeze blowing. The im- pression that flares had been lit was evidently caused by a house on fire at Broadstairs, and the life-boat returnedto her station, arriving at 3.25.— Rewards £10 5s..
