Kindly Light

North Sunderland, Northumberland.— During the morning of the 15th of January, 1954, the weather worsened while the local fishing boats were at sea, and at ten o'clock the life-boat W.R.A. was launched. The sea was rough, with a whole gale blowing from the west. The life-boat escorted some of the boats to the harbour, but the fishing boat Kindly Light was still out, and the life-boat put off again.

She was guided to the Kindly Light by the life-boat's second coxswain, who was at sea in his own boat, escorted her in, and reached her station again at 11.45.—Rewards, £20 7s..
