Galway Bay.—At one o'clock on the afternoon of the 29th of December, 1953, the local doctor asked if the life-boat would take him to Inishere Island, to attend a very sick man. who might have to be moved to the main- land. As no other boat was available, the life-boat Mabel Marion Thompson put to sea at 1.20 with the doctor on board. The sea was calm, and there was a light westerly breeze and fog.

The life-boat took the doctor to Inishere, but the patient was too weak to be moved. The doctor treated him and re-embarked in the life-boat, which reached her station again at five o'clock.—Rewards, £10 19s..
