Coima

Bembridge, Isle of Wight.—At 1.46 on the afternoon of the 24th of August, 1953, the Foreland coastguard tele- phoned that the Hayling Island Sail- ing Club had reported that a yacht off Chichester harbour had lost her rudder and was in distress. At 1.53 the life- boat Jesse Lumb was launched in a rough sea with a fresh westerly breeze blowing. She found the yacht Coima, of Bosham, at anchor, with a crew of two. The yacht was dragging her anchor in a dangerous position. After several unsuccessful attempts a rope was put on board her, and the life-boat towed her to Bembridge, arriving at five o'clock.—Rewards, £13 8s. Qd..
