THE British Empire Medal has been awarded to Coxswain Hugh Nelson, of Donaghadee, and ex-Coxswain William McConnell, of Portpatrick, in recogni- tion of the services they rendered in rescuing 33 survivors from the Princess Victoria on the 31st of January, 1953.
